About UACTF

UACTF is a Jeopardy-style, Capture the Flag Cyber Security competition for middle and high school students!

About the Practice Game

The UACTF Practice Game helps ensure student competitors are familiar with the UACTF platform before the competition! There are a few challenges for most categories that competitors can try that range in difficulty seen at past UACTF competitions. The bonus challenges are a select variety from the previous year's competition, and more will be added as the Practice Game goes on!

Competition Divisions:

Each challenge has a tag indicating what challenge divisions they would typically be offered in. This does not mean you won't see certain technical challenges in certain divisions, but it should help you get an idea of the technicality seen in each division.

Division 1: Advanced High School

Division 1 is for our more advanced high school teams, including teams that have participated in UACTF and other CTF competitions. Challenges in this division will span the entire gamut of cyber security areas with an emphasis on more advanced topics. We highly recommend a computer that runs Windows with a Kali Linux VM or Kali Linux natively with internet access. Specialized tools often have Windows versions that can be downloaded and installed prior to competition.

Division 2: Beginning High School

Division 2 is geared toward our high school teams that do not have as much experience with cyber security and/or CTF competitions. The challenges in this division will still push the competitors, but will have fewer advanced challenges. The equipment needed to succeed in Division 2 is simply a computer of any kind with any OS and internet access (ideally unrestricted, or just with SafeSearch filters enabled through Google).

Division 3: Middle School

Division 3 is for middle school students interested in learning and expanding their cyber security skills. The challenges in this division will introduce cyber security topics to students, emphasizing learning over competition.
